Choosing the right concrete roller screed
Roller screeds consist of a motor drive unit and a rotating screed tube that spans across the pour between two screed rails or forms set to finished slab level. Key specs to compare: tube length (matched to the pour width), tube material (aluminium alloy for lightness and durability), motor type (petrol or battery), and rotation speed. Tubes are available in standard lengths and can often be joined with couplers to extend the span. The roller screed is pulled along the screed rails by the operator while the rotating tube levels and consolidates the surface. Roller screeds are significantly lighter than truss screeds and easier to set up and move between jobs, making them a practical choice for concreters working across multiple residential sites.
