Choosing the right safety vest
Safety vests are available in several visibility classes and configurations. Class D vests feature retroreflective tape arranged in a pattern that provides visibility in daylight and in low-light or night conditions when illuminated by vehicle headlights. Class N (daytime only) vests provide high-visibility colour without retroreflective tape, suited to daytime-only site environments. Safety vests must comply with AS/NZS 4602.1 — the Australian and New Zealand standard for high-visibility safety garments — and be worn as required by site safety management plans and Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations. Available in mesh and solid fabric options, with zip, button and vest-style fastenings, and in a range of sizes including hi-vis vests with pockets for site use.
