Types of mitre saws
A standard mitre saw cuts at adjustable horizontal mitre angles (typically 0–45° left and right) for making angled crosscuts. A compound mitre saw also tilts the blade to cut bevels, allowing compound angle cuts in one pass — essential for crown moulding and roof work. A sliding compound mitre saw adds a sliding rail system so the blade can travel across wider workpieces, increasing the crosscut capacity significantly. Blade sizes typically range from 210mm to 305mm, with larger blades suited to wider and thicker material.
