Since diamonds are one of the strongest materials in the world, it’s easy to understand why they are great for easily cutting through abrasive materials.

A diamond blade is used with a circular saw to cut coarse, tough materials that are typically impossible to cut with a regular steel saw blade. They make it easy to cut through bricks for masonry, rocks, or concrete slabs.

Diamond blades aren’t solid diamonds though — as you may have guessed. They are made with a steel core and diamond teeth. That being said, the teeth aren’t sold diamonds either — but they’re made with diamond powder and crystals.

The powder and crystals are heated until they are malleable and then pressed into shape. This makes the shape of the teeth for the saw blades, which gives it the ability to cut through some of the strongest materials.

When you’re using a diamond blade, its best used wet for a number of reasons. Not only does wet cutting keep the blade from overheating, but it also cuts down on the amount of dust that is created from the material being cut. As an added benefit, cutting wet allows the slurry to be removed from the location of the cut.
