Types of tin snips
Tin snips are available in straight-cut, left-cut and right-cut versions to suit different cutting directions and curve types. Straight-cut snips cut in a straight line or gentle curve. Left-cut snips (red handle) cut curves to the left, and right-cut snips (green handle) cut curves to the right — the colour coding is a universal trade standard. Compound-action aviation snips reduce hand fatigue on extended cutting jobs by multiplying cutting force through a compound lever action.
