How cross-liner laser levels work
A cross-liner (also known as a cross-line laser level) uses a self-levelling pendulum or electronic levelling system to automatically project a level horizontal line and a true vertical plumb line. This allows you to quickly establish level and plumb reference lines across a room without a traditional spirit level or chalk line. Most models will flash or lock out of level if placed outside their self-levelling range — an important safety feature for accurate work. Use with a laser detector for outdoor or bright-light applications where the beam is hard to see.
